Ghana Music Project
The Ghana Music Project will make credible information regarding HIV and AIDS easily accessible to youth by producing a compilation CD featuring HIV and AIDS awareness messages and songs by popular Ghanaian musicians. The Ghana Music Project will distribute the music to radio stations throughout Ghana’s ten districts so that its life-saving messages reach even the most remote corners of the country, with a special focus on high prevalence districts including the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern regions. To maximize the impact of this initiative, additional distribution outlets for the music, such as HIV testing centers and taxis, will be utilized. A multi-media campaign will also be launched to complement the music. Humanitarian Notes will leverage its relationship with the international AIESEC network to carryout the project by bringing together university students in Liberia, who recently completed a Liberia Music Project, with members of AIESEC in Ghana, who will take the lead on the Ghana Music Project.

To get a taste of what LiberiAlive will contain, Humanitarian Notes is offering up a sample track from the new CD. Go to our MediaFire download site to hear a song by K-Zee, produced by Pachano. The first part of it is sung in Bassa. It’s pretty excellent.
Also, for those hooked into Facebook, check out our fan page or our Causes application. You might even find a board member or two there: new Facebook friends!

Tuesday December 2nd, Humanitarian Notes joined forces with Student Global AIDS Campaign at Brandeis University for an evening of music and education on the AIDS pandemic in Africa. With NamibiAlive blasting from speakers and sporting the new
Humanitarian Notes t-shirt, Outreach Coordinator Dan Newman took participants from the Shapiro Campus Center to Namibia and Liberia, detailing the efforts Humanitarian Notes has undertaken to educate Africans about HIV/AIDS through music. Visitors were given the opportunity to sign a giant red ribbon, to be sent to US Senators, as well as donate to Humanitarian Notes. Participants expressed interest in the organization, and inquired as to where the organization would be going to next. Newman replied, ”Where ever AIDS could be.”
